Summer Smoothie Time

Hey guys! I have gotten really into smoothies the last few days. With the summer coming, I really wanted a cold treat to be able to enjoy in the mornings on my way to school. Did you know that smoothies are a great way to get dairy and fruit in?! I have been feeling super healthy since drinking these. I wanted to share some of my favorite recipes with you so that you can enjoy this treat, too.

Frozen Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

I have been on a blueberry kick lately, and what better way is there to get some blueberries and dairy in your diet than with a blueberry smoothie? Nothing complicated here, but the honey will really sweeten this smoothie. You may wish to taste before adding it in.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries (un-thawed)
  • 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt

  • 1/2 cup skim or 1% milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth or to desired consistency then serve in glasses.

Banana-Strawberry Smoothie

I was really looking for something to have for breakfast on a hot day. This is the perfect treat.

Ingredients
2 bananas
2 cups strawberries
1 cup milk
1 cup plain yogurt

Preparation
Peel and slice bananas. Wash and cut off tops of the strawberries. Put into blender with the milk and yogurt. Blend and serve

Triple Berry Smoothie Recipe

This berry smoothie is great for several reasons. It contains high level of antioxidants, vitamins C and E, and other nutrients - and of course calcium!

Ingredients

1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1 banana
1/2 cup yogurt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup ice cubes

Preparation:
Blend the banana, ice, yogurt, milk, and other berries together until a smooth drink is formed. Pour into a cup and enjoy a very fruity, healthy smoothie.

Well girls, I need to get some homework done, but try these and let me know what you think.
